You are right. You don’t need God to have morals. The question just becomes who morals does an organized society agree on. Some countries think murder is wrong, and other counties had no problem murdering millions of their citizens. The supreme god being the author eliminated the problem of whose morals to follow. Whether god proves real or not, history leans towards that working out a little better.
