Until recently, I had never really considered that the disciples and Paul, in trying to preserve the accuracy of their experiences with Jesus from the movement's hijackers, unintentionally created a new religion. It's plain to see the "honing-in" of what we call formal Christianity all through the writings of the New Testament. I had just never looked at it that way before. There is no way a new religion - the very thing Jesus scorned - was Jesus's intention.
