Thanks for pointing out the reasons behind gun massacres instead of just blaming "bad" guns as most do.

The one reason that rarely gets mentioned for gun violence is that every TV show and movie promotes gun violence. Hollywood glorifies guns at every turn and has created a culture where shooting people seems normal.

If we are to change people's perceptions of responsible gun use (and responsible gun use is possible, people), maybe we should start outlawing gun violence in entertainment-based media. If you don't impregnate someone's mind with a bad idea, they won't act on it.

Yeah, like that will ever happen.

So, Dan, maybe you are right. Perhaps the best option is to take away our 2nd Amendment gun rights. That's the quick and easy fix, but that then takes away a fundamental right that makes American society unique. Freedom and personal security from governmental abuse are historically embedded in our societal DNA since our founding. And people don't like change, so gun confiscation here will be a fight much different than in Australia.
