I think there is a difference between what women fantasize about and the reality of who they want to live with. Most women who fantasize about chiseled looks have mom bods and average looks that they are insecure about. Most gain security in their relationships by partnering with someone closer to their looks and body shape. A guy that looks like your romance novel cover will make her insecure in the relationship and likewise he may not be physically attracted to her in the long term. These relationships fail more often than not.
